Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is now a father three as he just welcomed a set of twins.

Ronaldo was away at the Confederations Cup in Russia when he got the news.

The 32-year-old was excused by Portugal to head home early from Confederations Cup duty to meet the new arrivals.

The twins are reported to have been named Eva and Mateo and been born on June 8 to a surrogate mother.

A fight broke out in new Panteka market along the Nnamdi Azikewe bypass when an Igbo man allegedly named his dog Muhammad.

The fight erupted when an Igbo man allegedly named his dog Muhammad. According to Daily Trust, the market was closed down by men of the Nigerian Police who restored peace after the fight broke out.

Panteka market is a major spare parts centre which houses many mechanic garages in the state. According to an eyewitness, named Aminu Ibrahim said the trouble started when one Muhammad bought a dog and allegedly named it Ibere after an Igbo trader.

Ibrahim said: “Since the boy named the dog after the trader, the trader had warned him on several occasions to rename the dog, but the owner of the dog Muhammad refused. The Igbo trader, Ibere also bought a dog and named it Muhammad, this is when all hell was let loose.”

Subsequently, a fight erupted between Hausa and Igbo traders in the market which led to the closure of the market by the police.

There are strong indications that Nigeria president Muhammadu Buhari is dead, according to Metro.co.uk Buhari died London Hospital where he was receiving medical care, the Nigerian Mission in UK has said.

According to the information released by the Nigerian Embassy, Buhari left Nigeria for a vacation in the U.K in order to undergo medical checks.

One of the President’s aides who accompanied him to the U.K and spoke on condition of anonymity said the President has been battling an “unknown disease” for a while now.

Though the decision to receive medical care in a foreign land angered some of his countrymen, the Nigerian community in London have expressed deep shock for the President’s demise.

It is the second time in a year that Buhari has sought medical treatment outside Nigeria ; he also traveled to London in June 2016 and saw an ear, nose and throat specialist after contracting an ear infection.

Buhari, who was elected in March 2015 in Nigeria’s first democratic transfer of power, had previously promised to clamp down on so-called “health tourism”, where government officials travel abroad for treatment rather than patronizing Nigerian doctors.

Senate passes another anti graft bill,whistle blowers bill.

Yhe 8th Senate today, passed the Whistle blower Protection Bill. 

The Bill, which seeks to encourage and facilitate the disclosures of improper conduct by public officers and public bodies was presented by the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, chaired by Senator David Umaru, the member representing Niger East in the 8th National Assembly.

Otherwise known as An Act to Protect Persons Making Disclosures for the Public Interest and Others from Reprisals, to Provide for the Matters Disclosed to be Properly Investigated and Dealt with and for other Purposes Related Therewith, the Bill also seeks to ensure that persons who make disclosures and persons who may suffer reprisals in relation to such disclosures are protected under the law.

The Bill also specifies who is qualified to make disclosure of improper conduct; the procedure for making disclosures; and the protection due to whistleblowers.

Under the newly passed Bill, a person who makes a disclosure shall not

be subject to victimization by his or her employers or by fellow employees. Additionally, a person who makes a disclosure has the right to take legal action if he or she is victimized, dismissed, suspended, declared redundant, transferred against his or her will, harassed or intimidated in any manner.

Speaking on the passage of the Bill, the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki stated that: this is a promise kept. Today, we have passed a landmark piece of legislation to fight corruption and protect patriotic Nigerians who are fighting corruption, he said, this Bill will protect the lives of those who risk themselves to expose corrupt practices in Nigeria.

With the passage of this Bill, the Senate has concluded work on three anti-corruption Bills. In May 2017, it passed the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill, while in June 2017, it passed the Witness Protection Bill.

The Bill to establish Special Anti-Corruption Courts has been sent to the Constitution Amendment Committee. The Proceeds of Crime Bill has been sent to the Senate Joint Committee on Anti-Corruption and Judiciary.

Crocodiles in Nigeria

The main reptiles are the crocodiles and monitor lizards. In Nigeria, there are three crocodile species (Dore, 1983) the Nile crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus), long snouted (C.cataphractus) and the West African dwarf crocodile (Osteolaemus tetraspis). The Nile crocodile is the commonest with a wide distribution in rivers, lakes, creeks and mangrove swamps. The long-snouted species has more of a riverine distribution throughout the West African region while the dwarf crocodile is endemic to West African forest rivers. The commonest lizard is the Nile monitor (Varanus niloticus). It is found in rivers with stony terrain. It often drops into the water with a large splash from a basking point on top of stones and tree branches near water (Ayeni et.al., 1983). Their distribution extends to the forest zones of Nigeria but another species, Bosc's monitor lizard (Varanus exanthematicus) is found in the drier parts of the country, the Sahelian and Northern Guinea savannah to which it is limited. It has a broader head with less pattern on the skin and is hunted for its meat and leather. There are also tortoises, terrapins and snakes associated with aquatic habitats in Nigeria whose distributions, like their habitat, are more widespread during the rainy seasons.
